Shared reading: Esther 4:8-17 (KJV).

Original learning idea: Courage grows with wise support.
Weekly Memory Verse – Psalm 27:14 (KJV)
Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the
LORD.
Related Psalm: not words spoken by Esther.
Hear the full verse; echo short unchanged phrases. No speed or recitation pressure.
Prepare for the Adventure
Hatach: the messenger between Esther and Mordecai (4:5-10). Maidens: Esther’s attendants. Fast:
go without food; verse 16 also specifies drink.
Goals: recognise the main people or idea; solve the Bible activities with support; choose one helpful
response. Read directions aloud, explain words simply, and welcome partner work.
45-Minute Teaching Plan
0-5 Welcome; introduce the picture and a simple optional prayer.
5-12 Read the short KJV selection together; explain story words.
12-22 Play W1 activities 1-2 in pairs. Model one example if needed.

1 / PALACE MESSAGE MISSION
Say: Track who sends, hears and answers the
message.
Do: Add A, B or C below each panel.
Check: Panels 1-3: C, A, B. Mordecai gives Hatach
the message (4:6-8); Hatach tells Esther (4:9);
Esther responds through the messengers and
states her plan (4:10-16). Pictures summarise, not
reproduce exact dialogue.
2 / MATCH THE MISSION ROLES
Say: Find what each person or group does.
Do: Write one matching letter per role.
Check: 1-C; 2-A; 3-B. Hatach carries messages
(4:8-10); Esther plans to approach the king (4:16);
the Jews in Shushan are asked to fast (4:16). No
fasting activity is assigned.
3 / UNLOCK THE COURAGE WORD
Say: Solve the code, then hear the word in the
Psalm.
Do: Decode seven letters and say one safe
courageous action.
Check: COURAGE: 3-15-21-18-1-7-5. It is from
Psalm 27:14, not Esther’s spoken words. Invite
one short example of courage with support.
4 / SPEAK UP WITH SUPPORT
Say: Who can help, and what could you safely do?
Do: Write a helper role and one short action.
Check: Open response: ask a trusted adult or
teacher for help; offer a safe welcome or speak
calmly with support. Never confront a dangerous
person alone or disclose private incidents.
5 / REMEMBER
Say: read the exact verse on W1 and CG1.
Do: partners echo one unchanged phrase at a
time; join phrases if ready.
Check: use the printed KJV words. Hearing and
joining in are valid participation.
PLAY TOGETHER
Partners retell one comic panel each, then check
activity 1 and the passage. Swap roles.
Check: Use activity 1’s panel key. Accept faithful
summaries; pictured appearances are not verified
Bible facts.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
For support: pair-read, read directions aloud, offer
pointing or a scribe; solve the first clue together.
Do not score speed or handwriting.
Extra challenge, optional: Does Esther act as
though the danger is imaginary? What shows she
understands the risk?
Answer: No. Verse 11 explains the danger and
verse 16 acknowledges that she could perish. Her
decision does not claim a guaranteed safe
outcome.
SHORT LESSON / HOMESCHOOL
20-minute essentials: welcome/story 3; shared
reading 5; activities 1 and 4 for 6; verse 4;
recap/prayer 2. Other puzzles are optional.
30-60 minutes: add remaining puzzles, partner
retelling, the game and fuller reading; include
breaks.
TAKE HOME & CHECK
Name two trusted adults a child could go to for
help. Read the related memory verse together.
Quick check: Can the learner identify Esther and
one safe way to seek support?
Optional praise: a spoken thank-you to God; no
music required.
Teacher reflection: enjoyed / needed help / revisit.
Next time: ______________
ACCURACY & CARE
Briefly explain the threat to the Jewish people
from Esther 3:13 as context. Do not reenact
threats or ask children to fast or skip water.
Esther 4:10-17 explicitly mentions fasting, not the
words of a prayer.
