📖 What We’re Reading

2 Chronicles 25:1–10 — A divided heart and costly obedience

🌱 What These Verses Teach Us

Amaziah does right without a whole heart. He follows the law by not punishing children for their fathers' crime, and later dismisses hired troops at a prophet's instruction despite the lost payment. These actions show obedience amid incomplete devotion. Financial investment must not become a reason to persist in a wrong course.

Key Truth: Do not let a sunk cost prevent obedience.

📖 What We’re Reading

2 Chronicles 25:11–16 — Victory followed by idolatry

🌱 What These Verses Teach Us

The campaign includes severe violence against Edom, and dismissed soldiers raid Judah. Amaziah then worships the gods of the people he defeated. A prophet exposes the folly, but the king threatens him. Military success has not produced spiritual discernment. The account does not ask readers to imitate its violence or its pride.

Key Truth: Success does not remove the need for correction.

📖 What We’re Reading

2 Chronicles 25:17–28 — Pride leads to defeat

🌱 What These Verses Teach Us

Amaziah challenges Israel despite a warning that his boasting will bring harm. Judah loses, Jerusalem's wall is breached, and treasures are taken. Later conspiracy ends his life.
