1 / TRACE THE WISE APPEAL
Say: Look for warning, wise words and listening.
Do: Match each panel; explain one visible clue.
Check: Panels 1-3: B, C, A. Servant reports (v. 14);
Abigail appeals (vv. 23-31); David receives her
gift (v. 35). Basket, poses and clothing are
imagined; art compresses the speech.
2 / FOLLOW THE PEACE STEPS
Say: Which action makes the next step possible?
Do: Order the events using their verse clues.
Check: Printed order: 3, 2, 1. David accepts her
gift (v. 35); Abigail prepares food (v. 18); servant
reports (v. 14). Distinct events; no need to recall
quantities.
3 / CHOOSE THE WISE RESPONSE
Say: Does listening mean David must keep his
angry plan?
Do: Find each verse, then circle the response.
Check: GOOD ADVICE (v. 33); LISTENED (v. 35);
PEACE (v. 35). These are original short
summaries, not Scripture quotations. David
changes course.
4 / TRY A CALM APPEAL
Say: Can you be calm and clear at the same time?
Do: Give a short sentence and a safe next step.
Check: Open response: Let's pause and check the
rule with our leader. A useful step is taking turns
explaining. If anger becomes threatening, move
away and get adult help.
5 / REMEMBER
Say: read the exact W1/CG1 verse.
Do: echo unchanged phrases.
Check: follow the printed KJV words; listening
counts.
PLAY TOGETHER
Partners build a three-step paper trail: HEAR,
THINK, RESPOND. Place the story events from
activity 2 along it; then invent a safe game-rule
disagreement and a calm appeal.
Check: HEAR: report; THINK: Abigail prepares
helpful action; RESPOND: appeal and David's
acceptance. Labels are a learning model, not a
quoted Bible sequence. No threatening role-play.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
For support: Read aloud; offer oral answers,
pointing, a scribe or partner. Model a clue; allow
time. No personal disclosures required.
Extra challenge, optional: In verses 32-33, whom
does David bless, and what did Abigail's advice
prevent?
Answer: He blesses the LORD God of Israel, her
advice and Abigail. Her intervention kept him
from shedding blood and avenging himself.
SHORT LESSON / HOMESCHOOL
20-minute essentials: welcome 3; reading 5; tasks
1 and 4 for 6; verse 4; recap/prayer 2. Other tasks
optional.
30-60 minutes: add puzzles, game, retelling and
fuller reading; take breaks.
TAKE HOME & CHECK
Practise a calm sentence for a pretend
disagreement. Echo the exact related proverb
together.
Quick check: What did David do when he heard
Abigail's appeal?
Answer: Accepted the gift and listened; sent her
home in peace (v. 35).
Optional praise: thank God for today’s learning;
no music needed.
Teacher reflection: Revisit: __________
ACCURACY & CARE
David is not yet king. This follows 1 Samuel 24
(lesson 14). Children are not responsible for
stopping dangerous adults. Calm words cannot
guarantee safety.
