Spies: people gathering information secretly. Flax: plant stalks on the roof. Token: a sign. Context:

1 / FOLLOW THE WINDOW CLUES
Say: Find the hiding place, escape and sign.
Do: Match all panels; point to one visible clue.
Check: Panels 1-3: B, C, A. Flax hides the spies (v.
6); cord escape (v. 15); scarlet line tied (v. 21).
Faces and architecture are imagined. Rope and
sign are not proved to be the same cord.
2 / PLAN THE ESCAPE ROUTE
Say: Which route avoids the pursuers?
Do: Complete or say each short answer.
Check: WINDOW (v. 15); MOUNTAIN and THREE
(v. 16). These are Rahab's instructions; their
completed stay is in v. 22, beyond this lesson
selection.
3 / UNLOCK THE FAITH CLUE
Say: What had Rahab learned about God?
Do: Decode, then point to evidence in v. 11.
Check: TRUST. Rahab acknowledges the LORD is
God in heaven and earth (v. 11). TRUST is an
original puzzle word, not a quotation of her
speech.
4 / HELP WITH WISDOM
Say: How can a partner offer safe, practical help?
Do: Give two short ideas; no personal story
needed.
Check: Open response: listen and offer to practise
together or ask the teacher. No climbing, hiding
people or keeping unsafe secrets. A pretend
situation is enough.
5 / REMEMBER
Say: read the exact W1/CG1 verse.
Do: echo unchanged phrases.
Check: follow the printed KJV words; listening
counts.
PLAY TOGETHER
Pairs make three paper labels: roof, window,
mountain. Put them in the spies' route order, then
link each to a verse. Swap reader and clue-finder
roles.
Check: ROOF -> WINDOW -> MOUNTAIN; vv. 6,
15, 16. The mountain is the instructed next stop.
Add the window sign separately (v. 21); do not
climb or reenact escape.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
For support: Read aloud; offer oral answers,
pointing, a scribe or partner. Model a clue; allow
time. No personal disclosures required.
Extra challenge, optional: In verses 18-20, what
must Rahab do besides bind the scarlet line?
Answer: Gather her family into her house, keep
them inside, and not reveal the spies' business.
The oath includes conditions, not magic in a cord.
SHORT LESSON / HOMESCHOOL
20-minute essentials: welcome 3; reading 5; tasks
1 and 4 for 6; verse 4; recap/prayer 2. Other tasks
optional.
30-60 minutes: add puzzles, game, retelling and
fuller reading; take breaks.
TAKE HOME & CHECK
Retell the three picture clues to someone at
home. Read the related Psalm together; practise
its unchanged phrases.
Quick check: What did Rahab say about Israel's
God?
Answer: He is God in heaven above and earth
beneath (v. 11, summary).
Optional praise: thank God for today’s learning;
no music needed.
Teacher reflection: Revisit: __________
ACCURACY & CARE
Do not teach deception or risky secrecy as a
child's mission. Rahab's rescue occurs later, not in
2:1-21. The cord has no magic power. Never
require personal disclosures.
