A gentle first-week reading and discipleship guide grounded in the Gospel.
You are welcome to read and learn without signing up. This guide introduces a pattern of listening to Jesus in Scripture, bringing honest questions to God, and learning with other believers. It does not replace the Bible or the care of a faithful local church. Begin at your own pace; a week may take longer.
- Meet Jesus in the Gospel. Read John 1:1–18 (KJV). Write what the passage says about who He is. Keep questions beside the text rather than assuming you must understand everything at once.
- Consider new birth and belief. Read John 3:1–21 (KJV). Follow Jesus’ conversation with Nicodemus. Notice the need He describes and God’s provision. Ask a mature Christian to read the passage with you if words or ideas are unfamiliar.
- Listen to the Good Shepherd. Read John 10:1–18 (KJV). List what Jesus says He does for the sheep. Trust has an object: return to who He is and what He has done, rather than measuring faith only by changing feelings.
- Learn to pray. Read Matthew 6:5–13 (KJV). Speak honestly to the Father. Include worship, daily needs, confession, and requests for help. You do not need an impressive public performance.
- Learn love through service. Read John 13:1–17 (KJV). Notice Jesus’ example. Choose a small act of service that can be done without demanding attention.
- Keep receiving and practising His words. Read John 15:1–17 (KJV). Identify repeated ideas about abiding, fruit, and love. Start a manageable reading habit rather than a schedule you cannot sustain.
- Return to resurrection hope. Read John 20:19–31 (KJV). Notice the reason this Gospel records these signs. Write one truth learned, one remaining question, and one next step.
Find people to learn with
Look for a local church that teaches Scripture faithfully and helps people follow Christ with humility and care. Ask questions about the gospel, baptism, fellowship, and service. This guide does not assign a church to you or collect your contact information.
A notebook you can keep
After reading, record the date, passage, what it says about God, a question, and a response. Keep original explanations distinct from the KJV words. You can return to the beginner adult studies for a more structured path.
When you miss a day
Resume with the next passage. Spiritual growth is not proved by a perfect streak. Careful understanding, honest repentance, and growing love are better goals than simply finishing a list.
