1 / FOLLOW THE COURAGE TRAIL
Say: Which picture shows listening, a message
and support?
Do: Match the panels; name one visible clue.
Check: Panels 1-3: C, A, B. Deborah judges under
the palm (vv. 4-5), calls/instructs Barak (vv. 6-7),
goes with him (vv. 9-10). The small group
represents a much larger army; it is not a count.
2 / OPEN THE MISSION FILE
Say: Separate the mountain, number and river.
Do: Find each clue in the Bible; match it.
Check: 1-B; 2-C; 3-A. Mount Tabor is the
destination (v. 6); ten thousand is the
commanded number (v. 6); Kishon is the river (v.
7).
3 / RESTORE THE MESSAGE TRAIL
Say: How does the conversation unfold?
Do: Number the events and retell in order.
Check: Printed order: 3, 1, 2. Deborah agrees to
go (v. 9); Deborah calls Barak (v. 6); Barak asks
her to go (v. 8).
4 / BE AN ENCOURAGING PARTNER
Say: What could help without taking over?
Do: Write or say a kind offer and one action.
Check: Open response: Would you like to practise
with me? Offer to share a line or ask the teacher.
Encouragement offers support without pressure
or promises of easy success.
5 / REMEMBER
Say: read the exact W1/CG1 verse.
Do: echo unchanged phrases.
Check: follow the printed KJV words; listening
counts.
PLAY TOGETHER
Pairs make paper role cards: Deborah, Barak,
LORD's command. One names a verse clue; the
other connects it to the role. Switch; all clues are
solved together.
Check: Deborah: judges, sends and goes (vv.
4-6,9). Barak: asks, calls men and goes (vv. 8,10).
Command: toward Tabor, ten thousand men (v.
6). Labels are teaching aids.
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
For support: Read aloud; offer oral answers,
pointing, a scribe or partner. Model a clue; allow
time. No personal disclosures required.
Extra challenge, optional: Does 4:9 say the
honour of overcoming Sisera will belong to Barak?
Answer: No. Deborah says the journey will not be
for his honour; the LORD will sell Sisera into a
woman's hand. Her name is not supplied in vv.
1-10.
SHORT LESSON / HOMESCHOOL
20-minute essentials: welcome 3; reading 5; tasks
1 and 4 for 6; verse 4; recap/prayer 2. Other tasks
optional.
30-60 minutes: add puzzles, game, retelling and
fuller reading; take breaks.
TAKE HOME & CHECK
Offer support for one safe task, with permission.
Practise the related Psalm in two unchanged
phrases.
Quick check: Who went with Barak, and where
was he commanded to go?
Answer: Deborah; toward mount Tabor (vv.
6,9-10).
Optional praise: thank God for today’s learning;
no music needed.
Teacher reflection: Revisit: __________
ACCURACY & CARE
This selection ends before the battle. Do not
portray Deborah as queen or claim she is the
woman who defeats Sisera. God's specific battle
command is not a command for learners to fight.
