📖 What We’re Reading

Ezra 2:1–35 — The returning families and towns

🌱 What These Verses Teach Us

The chapter records households and towns represented among those returning from captivity. The repeated names and numbers preserve the identity of a community rebuilding its life. Return is not simply the action of a famous leader: many families participate, bringing their histories and responsibilities with them.

Key Truth: Remember the many people involved in a shared restoration.

Check What You Remember

📖 What We’re Reading

Ezra 2:36–63 — Servants and verified responsibilities

🌱 What These Verses Teach Us

Priests, Levites, singers, gatekeepers, and temple servants are named. Some people cannot establish their genealogy, and certain priestly claimants are kept from priestly privileges pending resolution. This belongs to Israel's inherited priesthood arrangements; it is not a statement that human worth depends on ancestry. Entrusted offices require appropriate verification.

Key Truth: Distinguish a person's worth from qualifications for a particular office.

Check What You Remember

1. Whose descendants are listed as singers? (Ezra 2:41)

Choose one answer:

Find it in Ezra 2:41 (KJV).

2. What could some priestly claimants not find? (Ezra 2:62)

Choose one answer:

Find it in Ezra 2:62 (KJV).

3. What priestly means are named for awaiting a decision? (Ezra 2:63)

📖 What We’re Reading

Ezra 2:64–70 — The community settles and gives

🌱 What These Verses Teach Us

The totals include servants, singers, and animals alongside the congregation. Some leaders give freely according to their ability for rebuilding God's house. The people then settle in their cities. A community's restoration includes homes, resources, service, and willing generosity, not merely a list of names or a building project.

Key Truth: Give according to ability and help rebuild community life.

Check What You Remember

1. How many were in the whole congregation? (Ezra 2:64)

Choose one answer:

Find it in Ezra 2:64 (KJV).

2. How did the leaders offer for God's house? (Ezra 2:68)

Choose one answer:

Find it in Ezra 2:68 (KJV).

3. According to what did they give? (Ezra 2:69)

Choose one answer:

Find it in Ezra 2:69 (KJV).
